Trenton NJ, Amid reported investigations into New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) office handling statistics around coronavirus outbreaks in nursing homes, neighboring New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said Sunday he was “confident” in his state’s data.
Governor Andrew Cuomo emerged this week from two weeks in hiding to finally answer questions about allegations of sexual harassment and his deadly COVID nursing home policy. His ploy was to make a rare-semi apology for his behavior. ”I now understand that I acted in a way that made people feel uncomfortable,” he said. “It was unintentional.”
Murphy’s administration, like Cuomo’s, ordered long-term care facilities in the state to admit people who had previously tested positive for the virus at the start of the pandemic. Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday, Murphy said “I’m confident in the numbers”
According to a story from the New York Times , the Cuomo administration rewrote a report last June to hide the number of pandemic-related nursing home deaths.
“The number, more than 9,000 by that point in June , was not public, and the governor’s most senior aides wanted to keep it that way. They rewrote the report to take it out, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.
Meanwhile back in New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is doubling down and still bragging about how his policies led to the death of over 7.000 seniors in long term care facilities.
