Ridgewood NJ, Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent company of Stop & Shop and Hannaford grocery stores, recently confirmed a cybersecurity incident that affected parts of its U.S. network. In a statement issued Friday, the company said it promptly launched an investigation upon discovering the issue. External cybersecurity experts are working with Ahold Delhaize’s internal teams to address the problem, and law enforcement has been notified.
According to the company, some systems were taken offline as a precautionary measure to contain the incident and protect data integrity. This disruption has temporarily impacted various Ahold Delhaize USA services, including certain pharmacies and e-commerce operations.
Over the weekend, some stores were unable to process debit and gift card payments, and Hannaford’s website remained down through Monday. Certain product deliveries have also been delayed, causing minor service interruptions for customers. Despite these challenges, all Stop & Shop and Hannaford locations remain open to serve customers.
“The security of our customers, associates, and partners is a top priority,” the company stated, apologizing for any inconvenience the issue may have caused. Ahold Delhaize USA is actively working to secure its systems and resume all operations smoothly.
With a strong presence in the Northeast, Stop & Shop operates 93 locations in New York and 47 in New Jersey, while Hannaford has 52 stores in New York. Both brands are focused on restoring full service and assuring customers that measures are being taken to enhance their cybersecurity defenses.
