Glen Rock NJ, last Tuesday evening, Glen Rock police responded to a call about a fistfight at Wilde Memorial Park, a location that was the scene of a shooting earlier this year.
Details of the Incident
Officers arrived at the basketball court in Wilde Memorial Park around 7 p.m. The fight had already ended before their arrival, according to police. Chief Dean Ackermann reported, “The alleged victim was uncooperative with responding officers, refused medical assistance for minor injury, and refused to identify himself, or the alleged perpetrator.” Detectives are now reviewing video footage from the park, but without the victim’s cooperation, filing charges may be challenging.
Previous Shooting Incident
This recent altercation follows a shooting incident that occurred near the same basketball court in May. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is still investigating that case. On May 21, around 7:34 p.m., a 23-year-old Paterson man was shot near the courts. The victim was treated for a single gunshot wound at a local hospital and released.
Chief Ackermann stated, “The investigation is very much active and ongoing. As the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation, I am unable to provide further comment.”
Community Response and Investigation
The shooting incident involved a “large crowd playing basketball,” according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. A local high school senior reported hearing “8 to 10” shots coming from the park that evening.
Authorities are asking for tips and video footage related to the shooting. Those with information can remain anonymous and contact the BCPO Tip Line at 201-226-5532. Additionally, any photos or videos taken around Wilde Memorial Park before, during, or after the shooting can be submitted via this link.
Community Support
In response to the shooting, Glen Rock Schools Superintendent Brett Charleston informed parents in May that counselors would be available at all Glen Rock schools to offer support to students.

Counselors.
Another scam. We learned about life by living it and accepting its lessons.
And yet somehow the rough-and-tumble generation gave way to the next generation of effete little snowflakes. So I wouldn’t pat myself on the back.
“The alleged victim was uncooperative with responding officers, refused medical assistance for minor injury, and refused to identify himself, or the alleged perpetrator.”
Sounds like the usual suspects.
Of course, in our day, there would have been no police involvement and it would likely have been handled by proper application of the parental foot.
Exactly. Sounds like the police should have minded their own business, whatever that is.
Glen rock will have to take down the bb courts like Fair Lawn did years ago, but the good news is the p town cultural enhancement can now move down to the c**ppy village.
Simple solution: remove the basketball rims.
Or cut down the nets…
Bball courts bring diversity, which Demoncrats said we need more of.
