Ridgewood NJ, the driver of silver colored, 4-door Chevrolet Cruze sedan refused medical treatment following a late Saturday morning, 05/25, crash in which the vehicle mounted a curb, struck a chain link construction fence head on, and slammed into a vacant building. There was no visible damage to the structure, which is located at 555 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood.
A stop sign at the intersection of Second Street and North Maple Avenue taken out in the crash along with several sections of the chain link fence. The driver told police that he’d just left a nearby automobile repair shop and was unable to control the vehicle as a result of faulty work having been performed there.
A representative of the repair shop was observed at the crash site taking photographs and videos of the damaged vehicle. The Cruze was winched away from the building by a City Wide flatbed tow truck and hauled it from the scene.

That property, formally the site of Village Ford, is owned by The Valley Hospital. Reportedly, the hospital bought it many years ago and was going to use it as offsite parking while they renovated their Ridgewood facility. Subsequent to purchasing the lot, the hospital decided to build in Paramus instead. A recent legal notice in the paper indicated that the hospital is now planning to develop the site. Rumor has it that it will be the location of a large high density housing complex.
I think the guy was confused and lost, what was even doing in there that’s private property. Maybe they should pull his license away. Just amazing how they try to blame someone else , Yeah, OK
The rampant ageism in this community is out of control! The auto body clearly took advantage of this man and provided subpar service, probably on purpose because they’re ageists.
What are you saying, maybe they should put a fence around that building so no one enters the lot. The place is crumbling down.
