Ridgewood NJ,first and foremost there is NO E.COLI OUT BREAK ! At Wednesday night council meeting Ridgewood Water assured the council that all the proper steps are being taken to have the well back on line by as early as Friday .

From the village website – wells monitoring and tests –“Ridgewood will perform weekly raw water monitoring at the two Group 1 wells for the presence of fecal coliform, e. coli and turbidity.”

List of wells locations –“One Group 3 raw water sample collected prior to disinfection from Wortendyke Well #6 indicated potential evidence of vulnerability to fecal contamination. However, water from this well is already being treated to achieve 4-log removal of viruses.”

“This well was removed from service pending further evaluation. All subsequent samples collected from this well have indicated negative for fecal contamination vulnerability indicators. No evidence of potential vulnerability to fecal contamination was observed at any other Group 3 wells”

  1. Performing weekly test? Why not daily or even hourly? God knows how much of ecoli water we have all ingested prior to the town ‘coming out’ on this. Given how absurd we pay for taxes and water bill here, they should do a better job at monitoring, preventing as well as communicating!!! #THISISNOTOK! #BADGOVERNANCE

    1. this is well water before it is treated , before it comes to your home

  2. Got an e-mail from the YMCA about the water, Nothing yet from Village Hall so far as I know.

  3. United Water looks pretty good. Ridgewood Water is poorly managed, no communication.

I am signed up for text notifications and in the past have received emails and reverse 911 calls. I have not been notified of anything

  4. Oh my god people calm down.

  5. We live in the era of panic and hysteria

  6. It’s Trump fault. Impeach. Snowflakes in full panic mode.

  7. ridgewood water company is run like a family business. Nobody is responsible for past billing issues or the future settlement with the surrounding towns. Please sell it and let’s focus on our core issues. Like running the town better

  8. Ridgewood water gets worse every year. Never any improvements, just arsenic violation lead violations, and now ecoli. Avoidance of lawsuit.

Someone in this state has to intervene immediately and have it rin properly and professionally. Constant ignoring and no improvements can’t continue any longer.

  9. I had a cup of water from the Ridgewood Starbucks Tuesday evening.. does this mean I could be infected?

    1. no the e.coli was found in pre-treated water not drinking water

  10. A big part of this problem is communication. Apparently Ridgewood Water has its own notification system. Being signed up with the town is not enough!

The water dept needs to step it up

  11. I don’t think anyone is panicking. I firmly believe we think you guys (the employees) are incompetent. You have a easy job and good benefits. You would think flying under the radar would be important instead of the continually being in the paper.

  12. Even the YMCA contacted members? Sounds like everyone except the Mayor and VC stepped up.
