Fair Lawn NJ, Eccentric Theater Company, Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company, and Summit Chorale are excited to announce a three-organization partnership to produce the classic operetta Die Fledermaus (Dr. Thomas Juneau, Conductor | Lou Ann Salkin, Director)!
Performances will take place May 12 & 14 at the Fair Lawn Community Center, with all music and dialogue presented in English.
Synopsis: Eisenstein is due to report to jail; however, at his friend Falke’s urging, he decides to evade his sentence for one night to attend Prince Orlofsky’s lavish party. Eisenstein wants to go with Falke, so he tells his wife, Rosalinde, that he is headed to jail. Rosalinde follows him to the ball in disguise as a Hungarian countess. Adele, their maid, feigns an excuse to be released from work so that she can also go to the ball with her sister, disguised as an actress. At the ball, Eisenstein unknowingly attempts to seduce his own wife, Falke gets his revenge for an old prank, and Adele tries to maintain her disguise… Insanity ensues, resulting in a happy ending for all.
