Hackensack NJ, earlier this week Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced his office will be ensuring election integrity by addressing voting rights or civil rights violations. Just hours later, the Bergen County Democrats nominated Thomas Padilla to the Bergen County Board of Elections. The appointment is ultimately made by Governor Phil Murphy.
In his new role, Padilla will be tasked with overseeing the administration of elections throughout the State’s most populous county (Bergen County). Tomorrow, November 2, 2023, Padilla is set to be sworn in as the newest member of the Bergen County Board of Elections.
In 2010, Padilla was in contention to be the next U.S. Marshal, a position he sought with the support of compromised Bob Menendez. Padilla was ultimately skipped for this position after it became clear that Padilla used his public position as a Hackensack Police officer for personal and political gain. In fact, Padilla admitted in deposition testimony he used on-duty subordinates to conduct Democrat political activities for him.
Shalah Collins and Mary Jo-Ann Guinchard called out this blatant hypocrisy displayed by Governor Murphy and the Bergen County Democrat machine. “Padilla admitted in deposition testimony he misused police department equipment and resources for political gain. He is unqualified for any position in government. I am not surprised the Democrats want to appoint him while Platkin lectures us on election integrity,” Guinchard, of Ridgewood stated. “The optics of this appointment on the eve of the election causes extreme concern. As commissioners we will blow the whistle on any chicanery occurring in County government.” Guinchard concluded.
“The Bergen County Democrats ought to apologize for failing to give the people of Bergen County honest representatives in public positions. Whether it is Bob Menendez or his friend Tom Padilla, the Bergen County Democrats in power are shameless,” Collins, of Lyndhurst stated. “This Democrat insider who admitted to misusing public resources and his position as a sworn police officer should not be near the election process. This is election interference. My running mate and I call on our opponents to take a stand against their party’s hypocrisy, and demand a suitable member take the board of elections position.”

Isn’t Murphy the guy who stole taxpayer money to see Taylor Swift in concert?
Guinchard just lost my vote. Our council members can’t be so openly political in other arenas until they have left office. We’ve had those and it stank/stinks.
