Wallington NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CRISTOPHER PACHECO-ROSARIO (DOB: 08/27/2004; single; unemployed) of 46 Brookdale Gardens, Bloomfield, NJ, on charges of armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, being a certain person not to possess a weapon, and aggravated assault by pointing a firearm. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and the Wallington Police Department under the direction of Chief Shawn Kudlacik.
On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at approximately 6:25 p.m., the Wallington Police Department received a report of an armed robbery that occurred at Samuel Nelkin County Park in Wallington, NJ. Five juvenile victims arranged to purchase a bicycle from Facebook Marketplace and were to meet the seller at the park. The suspect arrived at the park on a bicycle, brandished a firearm and attempted to rob the victims, who all fled on foot.
The Wallington Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad, and a joint investigation was initiated. During the investigation, CRISTOPHER PACHECO-ROSARIO was identified as a suspect.
On Monday, November 13, 2023, CHRISTOPHER PACHECO-ROSARIO was arrested by the Bloomfield Police Department on charges related to a separate incident. CRISTOPHER PACHECO-ROSARIO was subsequently charged by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in relation to the Wallington armed robbery.
CRISTOPHER PACHECO-ROSARIO was charged with first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); second-degree being a certain person not to possess a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1); and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4). CRISTOPHER PACHECO-ROSARIO was remanded to the Essex County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Wallington Police Department, and Bloomfield Police Department for their assistance with the investigation.
