  1. Another case of people thinking they have super powers. They may have been right under the law but they could have been dead too.

  2. It would be nice and even necessary to see a couple of uniformed police officers in the CBD on a regular basis to calm things down.

  3. I’m almost more scared to cross the street here than I was in Naples, and that’s saying something.

  4. I had a middle age guy, dressed completely in black, cross against the light at Franklin and Broad tonight. He did not look up at all when he stepped off of the sidewalk. He stepped directly in front of my car which I was, thankfully, driving very slowly. He didn’t even realize he just had a near death experience and just kept walking on.

  5. 11:57 He’s entitled to be in that crosswalk. (sarcasm)

  6. I don’t understand how you get hit by a car and you don’t sustain any injuries.I also think that majority of Ridgewood residents are very careful drivers. In my opinion biggest danger comes from out of towners who are always on a rush to find the next shortcut.

  7. I often see pedestrians dressed in all black walking in the street or crosswalk who don’t even look where they are going.
Visibility from inside a car at night, especially with some precipitation is not great.
I explain to my children constantly that as Pedestrians they need to be much more aware of their invisibility and of their surroundings.

  8. We are training these kids to not look, to feel invincible and to trust cars to stop.
    .
If you do not believe me, go to the HS (or any school) and see how all of the cars break traffic patterns and right of way to condition the kids to not break stride and keep walking across the street, oftentimes without ever looking left/right before setting foot in the street (and that is not even addressing cell phone distraction).

  9. I’m on the pedestrian’s side (and the law’s side) here. This is the middle of town… people should be able to cross in a crosswalk without getting hit by a car.
