Former Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward Lands a New Job as Supervisor of School Security and Safety

Ridgewood NJ, former Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward has taken a new job as supervisor of school security and safety at the Centennial School District in Warminster, PA. The Centennial School District school board, in a 9-0 unanimous vote approved the hiring of John Ward —who has served as police chief for the Stroud Area Regional Police, and Ridgewood Police Department —as the district’s school police officer position.


Up till now the school district, which has not had a school police officer, school resource officer, or school security guards at its schools, Schools Superintendent Dana Bedden said. Ward is credentialed as a school police officer who could be armed and has arresting powers and NASRO training. Ward will develop and oversee districtwide centralized safety and security plans, Bedden said.

Ward became Ridgewood Police Chief as the Senior Officer in Charge of the Ridgewood Police Department in July or 2010, Capt. John Ward was the acting chief of police. But the “acting” title will be removed on Sept. 1st of the year by the former Village Manager Ken Gabbert .Ward retired on July 1 , 2016 after a 36 year career of service to the village.Ward will probably be most remembered for the tribute he paid to  Michael Feeney, a 10 year old from Hawes School who died of cancer.
