Ridgewood NJ, a Friday morning, 01/21, head-on, two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of West Ridgewood Avenue and North Monroe Street, Ridgewood resulted in one (1) driver requiring ambulance transportation to The Valley Hospital, and one (1) crash related summons being issued by Ridgewood Police. Both heavily damaged vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Fire firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital responded to the incident.
People fly down the hill on Monroe….
People in Ridgewood drive to fast and don’t stop at stop signs. The town has changed a great deal since I grew up many many years ago and more police need to be watching how drivers who are going fast and not using the Stop sign. The town is looking like NY. I don’t go to Ridgewood as little as possible. It is very sad what is happening to a wonderful town.
I have seen so many close calls at this intersection. So many drivers race the left turn when the light changes to green, almost hitting the opposite straight-ahead driver who has the right of way. I guess those extra couple of seconds are that important.
Well people get used to it because it’s going to get worse with more and more people moving into a town. What did you expect from movies condos people from New York City. It’s no more Village
This is probably a good time to mention the NJ Transit buses that speed up and down N Monroe. When I see this during the times when kids are walking and biking to GW and Ridge, it causes a great deal of concern. I understand the road is a county road and the speed limit is 25. The buses and other cars are doing 35-40 mph easily on this thoroughfare, especially during the time when kids are heading to/from school. We have alerted the police and asked for an officer to come occasionally to slow the madness, but they will come one time, and then never again. I don’t understand why we can’t operate like Waldwick-when you enter Waldwick on Franklin Tpke or near the Superdome, there is an officer waiting to pull you over if you are speeding. Even if there isn’t I’ve seen one there so often that I automatically check my speed limit and observe it. Wondering why we can’t make Ridgewood safer in that respect.
they move here from nyc where they did not get experience driving
so we suffer the consequences
