Ridgewood NJ, here are some recent quotes from Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos regarding the planned sidewalk installation project on Clinton Avenue.:
“I know that there was an initial idea of expanding the width of the roadway [in conjunction with sidewalk installation]. But, it was something that the residents really didn’t want, expanding the width of the roadway.”
“Several of the current residents are not in favor of [sidewalks]. So, we want to impact that street as little as possible. What I would suggest is de minimis, if any, [street] widening.”
The staff of The Ridgewood Blog can recall no such concerns having ever been expressed by the mayor toward the preferences expressed by residents of the Schedler, East Saddle River Rd., and Kingsbridge Ln. neighborhoods. We wonder, why?
These FUN FACTS may explain why:
- A current resident of Clinton Ave. was one of five leaders for the successful “One Village, One Vote” ballot question petition drive in 2020. Councilwoman Siobhan Crann Winograd was also one of the five leaders.
- The unnamed Clinton Ave. resident also contributed $500 to the 2021 Village Council election campaign of the Village’s current mayor, Paul Vagianos.
- That same Clinton Ave. resident also served as Treasurer of Ms. Winograd’s 2022 Village Council election campaign.
Again, having friends in high places can prove to be handy at times. Or so it would appear as evidenced by the mayor’s current focus on keeping everything hunky-dory on Clinton Ave. For some reason (guess why), residents who live near Route 17 aren’t getting anywhere near the same level of consideration from the mayor. A double standard of sorts seems to apply, don’t you think?
Oh well. ‘Twas ever thus. Money talks, nobody walks.

He understands!
This same resident was also a campaign manager for board of education candidate Micale, who has been a disaster on the board so far. She just repeats what’s already said and has to recuse herself from over 50% of business.
Listen that problem. Mont Avenue has been a problem for 25 years. If it’s not one thing or another regarding children, walking, traffic, curbs, sidewalks, water, running down the road, make it a one-way, don’t remove my boulders, landscaping,
Mont Ave?
The mayor also said he was so happy about road pavings because his car would not absorb the shock from the potholes. Clearly he has not driven on West Saddle River Road anytime in the last year.
$500 is all it takes? Sign me up.
No one w as it’s to be beholden to Paulie boy. He is an evil snake
Pot holes on hillcrest Road. Come on , please repair them.
they paved Hillcrest then dug it up and now they are still digging it up. poor planning
He is so icky. He makes my skin crawl everytime I see him
We can do a scorecard for Paulie just Like Whino does. There are so many shady as sh*t shenanigans throughout the years since he got Weitz and Whino and Perron to vote him in as mayor. C’mon, you didn’t thing that was an organic decision, did you. That was all planned way in advance. He as has Tapinto tapped into his smoke and mirrors show.
and $$$$ from Feed the front lines and Healthbarn…where did the 4 million gp?
Ridgewood is a corrupt cesspool.
It will remain a corrupt cesspool since we are:
RICH and STUPID
Take that PV photo down. I almost threw up. He may the ugliest greek ever.
No Administration has confronted this issue. It has been years. It has been brought up from time to time but nothing happens. Please research this.
I do not understand why sidewalks were not put in on Clinton 20 years ago. I remember when the Village insisted that sidewalks be installed on Hawthorne Place, a Dead End street that is 4 houses long. The residents objected and it was in the Ridgewood News. I don’t know how it ended, I never drive down that street.I drive down Clinton a few times a week. I don’t understand the objection, it needs a sidewalk. It is a connection between Godwin and W Ridgewood that children use to get to school. Closing the road is recognition of a problem without addressing the problem. Sidewalks are for safety.
As for the complainers on Saddle River Road. No one walks on the road because there is nothing to walk to. If you wanted to walk to the Glen School there are plenty of side streets. If the Village suggested a sidewalk it would just give them something new to complain about.
No one is complaining about sidewalks on West Saddle. The road is chewed up and full of potholes. The Hohokus side is beautiful because they paved it.
