Garfield Man Arrested for Alleged Luring in Wallington

On April 10, 2026, an investigation led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wallington Police Department resulted in the arrest of a Garfield man on serious charges.
The Incident: What Happened?
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, the Wallington Police Department contacted the Special Victims Unit after receiving reports of an attempted luring.
The investigation revealed that Mark Jankowski, 43, of Garfield, NJ, was allegedly in a vehicle at the intersection of Hayward Place and Locust Avenue in Wallington. It is reported that he attempted to lure two children into his vehicle at that location.
Legal Charges and Current Status
Following the joint investigation directed by Chief Jeff Angermeyer and Chief Ireneusz Kluska, Jankowski was taken into custody. He faces the following charges:

Two counts of second-degree luring (N.J.S.A. 2C:13-6a).

The defendant has been remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

A first appearance is pending in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
