Glen Rock NJ, A 24-year-old Glen Rock volunteer firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening head injury on Saturday night, December 21, during a festive “Santa Detail” event. The incident occurred near Doremus Avenue, close to the Glen Rock Municipal Pool, when the firefighter’s head was struck by a low-hanging tree branch while riding on top of a fire truck.
The injured firefighter was transported to The Valley Hospital by ambulance for medical evaluation and treatment.
Collaborative Emergency Response
The situation required a coordinated effort from multiple first responders:
- Hawthorne Rescue Company #5 assisted Glen Rock Fire Department personnel in safely moving the firefighter from the truck’s hose bed to the ground.
- Glen Rock EMS provided immediate medical care, supported by paramedics from The Valley Hospital.
- Glen Rock Police Department responded to assist at the scene.

The Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department hosts the annual Santa Detail to spread holiday cheer throughout the community.
