Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy this evening issued the following statement about indicted U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez:
“The allegations in the indictment against Senator Menendez and four other defendants are deeply disturbing. These are serious charges that implicate national security and the integrity of our criminal justice system. Under our legal system, Senator Menendez and the other defendants have not been found guilty and will have the ability to present evidence disputing these charges, and we must respect the process. However, the alleged facts are so serious that they compromise the ability of Senator Menendez to effectively represent the people of our state. Therefore, I am calling for his immediate resignation.”
Statement of Passaic County Chairman John Currie On Senator Menendez
“As a long-time state chairman and the Democratic leader in Passaic County, I’m deeply concerned by the allegations against Senator Menendez. While everyone deserves their day in court, for the sake of unity and public trust, I urge Senator Menendez to step aside as he focuses on defending himself.”
Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) this evening commented on the federal criminal indictment of United States Senator Bob Menendez.
“This is a sad day for our great state,” said Congressman Pascrell. “The hallmark of our justice system is the presumption of innocence and the senator deserves his day in court. But given the gravity of these charges, I do not believe that Senator Menendez can continue to carry out the important duties of his office for our state.”
Morris County Democratic Chair Amalia Duarte calls on Sen. Menendez to resign
Elected officials should be held to the highest standards. Today’s shocking indictment raises serious concerns about the ability of Sen. Menendez to serve the people of New Jersey. I believe it is in the best interests of our state for him to resign.

What the hell took so long? Even my D friends know this guy’s been on the take for years.
Yet, your D friends keep voting for scumbags like him. it’s a mental disease.
Yes, but the overwhelming message they get from the news they consume is it’s better than the alternative. It’s the same with them voting for this beyond senile President.
“What the hell took so long? Even my D friends know this guy’s been on the take for years.”
What took so long is that is was not necessary to sacrifice a powerful Dem until now. People are seeing how corrupt and weaponized the DOJ and FBI are as they go after “political enemy” Trump.
The Dem leadership sees that all of their media and disinformaiton levers are not getting the desired result… people are seeing prosecutorial bias.
So…. drastic measures had to be taken and the decision was made to go after one of the most corrupt and easy Dem targets… Menendez.
He should resign and no one who has been indicted should hold any political office, regardless of political party.
Heck no. The Dems have already shown that they use the power of indictment for political purposes. As they say, you can jndict a ham sandwich.
Including trump.
Yes… we get the plan.
Go after Menendez (D) and make part of his sentence to “mot be allowed to run for political office” then the Dems have a “non-biased, non-political precedent” which they will try to use to ban Trump from running for office.
We are not stupid.
We see the plan.
See how that’s done? If there’s evidence, you stop supporting him, rather than doubling down and contributing to his legal defense and re-election campaign. Hint Hint.
wow.
You are truly naive.
He’s probably chomping at the bit to appoint somebody WORSE…………………..
It’s “champing”, not “chomping”.
Typical politician, your NEXT Paul
