Ridgewood NJ, Grab and Go parking spaces, which provide for 15 minutes of free parking in the Central Business District, are off of East Ridgewood Avenue, on Oak Street, Chestnut Street, South Broad Street, and Prospect Street. These spaces, which are sponsored by local establishments and various residents, are helpful for a quick errand or for picking up a food order at a restaurant. After the 15 minutes have expired, the driver must move their car or a summons may be issued. The Grab and Go parking spaces will be removed as of September 30, 2022, with new parking guidelines beginning in October. More information on the new parking guidelines will be explained in a future E-Notice.

  1. We need LOTS more of the 15 minutes for a dime spaces.
If I have to get on parkmobile and pay big $$ in order to pick up a meal I’ll go elsewhere
As a long time resident I have questions:
HOW much revenue do we get from parking, less salaries, less equipment?
What is the NET $$$ to the Village after all of the above and revenue from violations?
My suggestion, is to remove the meters and give one hour free parking on Ridgewood ave, and double the fines for overtime. (Chalk the tires or use the existing license plate readers we have)

    1. love the idea of one hour free

        1. They probably did a survey and found that the average time it took to do a transaction was 16 minutes.

  2. Anything to coerce residents to park in the big empty garage

    1. and who didn’t know, honestly, that no one would use it? Oddly, the Council continues to do things that kill off local merchants, killing the goose that lays the golden egg (who pays WAY higher taxes than regular residents).

  3. Then you want to why people go to other towns and shop. This is getting to be ridiculous.

    1. I’m going to assume the Parkmobile app has a notification function so that the sharks know to the second when someone’s parking time expires.

Like Richwood is so unique that you can’t get the same or BETTER shopping experience elsewhere.

One more case of making friends by pi$$ing people off.

  4. It is typical in downtowns that the revenue stream in a given garage is not sufficient to cover its
operating costs and debt service. Downtown parking systems are just that – systems – that rely
on pooled revenue from all resources, and especially the on-street meters (which tend to
have the highest turnover), to cover the higher cost associated with building and operating a
garage. This is the case in Ridgewood, where the net new revenue projected for the garage
is not projected to offset its expenses. Therefore, our revenue projection includes all downtown revenue and all expenses associated with the parking system. To operate the garage and have a revenue-positive parking utility (with funds available for other parking lot maintenance projects), we project that the Village will increase meter rates as follows:
    • In 2016, meters will be extended until 9 p.m. and meter rates on key downtown streets
    will increase to 75¢.
    • In 2017, 75¢ meters will be increased to $1 and the rest of the on-street and off-street
    meters will increase to 75¢.
    • If needed, rates would increase by 25¢ after five years.
    • Commuter permit rates would increase by $25 in 2021 and 2025

  5. What happened to all the money they receive from Covid. Supposedly received just under 20 million. Where did that all go. And what’s going on with Park and ride out and 17. That parking lot looks like it’s in Beirut.

  6. WHO DO WE SUE FOR THE GINORMOUS PARKING GARAGE BOONDOGLE ???

    1. Like no one saw that coming.

  7. How come no one’s talking about this large amount of money that the village received in Covid relief money. Where is all this money, what do they spend it on, how much is left, don’t we have the right to know.

  8. I was just informed $17 million was received from Covid relief. Where did it go, what do they use it for, how much is left. Did they use that money to balance the budget. Did they take some of that money and invest it, the taxpayers should be informed. We too many secrets. And yet there’s two openings on the council. They need to get some new blood work that has balls. Definitely someone from the outside. May be a financial advisor, for one and the other a major contractor, but they don’t want that, don’t they

  9. If you want to know one person who pushed extremely hard for the garage, look at a council member whose initials are P.V., who happens to own a chunk of the downtown in that area.

    1. People wanted him, you got him…………..

  10. People should support DPL to run, she’s fair and doesn’t side with SK or SCW. She goes to meeting and fights for the residents in real issues.

    1. DPL is a complete lunatic. She steals stock photos of eagles and post them as her own, drives around town taking pictures of other drivers, cuts through gas stations to get them, etc. She lied about many of the aspects about the subdivision in front of her own property, send IMs to complete strangers on FB to admonish them, what’s to scold the Boy Scouts for inviting elected officials and Village representatives to ceremonies, tc. The list is long and it is late. She’s bat shit crazy.
