Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of GARRY J. RUCKER, JR. (DOB: 3/28/1990; single; employed as a residential assistant) of 164 Clinton Place, Apt. 2A, Hackensack, New Jersey on sexual assault charges. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Darrin DeWitt.
On Sunday, June 20, 2021, the Hackensack Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit regarding the aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of thirteen by GARRY RUCKER, JR. in Hackensack, New Jersey. An investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Hackensack Police Department. During the investigation, it was learned that on Saturday, June 19, 2021, RUCKER, who was employed as a weekend supervisor at a treatment center for children in Hackensack, New Jersey, had engaged in sexual conduct including sexual penetration of a child who was under the age of thirteen. RUCKER then left the facility and never returned, and the New Jersey Department of Children and Families Institutional Abuse Investigation Unit was notified.
As a result of the investigation, on Friday, June 25, 2021, GARRY J. RUCKER, JR. was located in Paterson, New Jersey and was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree Aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1); one count of second-degree Sexual assault by contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and one count of second-degree Endangering the welfare of a minor, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a. GARRY RUCKER, JR. was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court.
