Ridgewood NJ, As we gear up to celebrate America’s historic 250th birthday, a shifting weather forecast is prompting a quick change of plans to keep everyone safe. Due to high temperatures expected tomorrow morning, organizers have officially adjusted the event timeline.
To ensure a safe, fun, and comfortable environment for families, participants, and spectators, the 4th of July parade will now start 60 minutes earlier than originally planned. Shifting the kickoff helps reduce everyone’s exposure to peak morning heat.
Here is everything you need to know about the revised schedule, safety tips, and evening fireworks.

8:30 AM – Flag Raising Ceremony at Wilsey Square

9:00 AM – 4th of July Parade Kickoff
Note: The evening entertainment and spectacular fireworks program at Veterans Field will still take place exactly as originally scheduled.

The Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration is organized by the Ridgewood Fourth of July Committee, a private, all-volunteer organization. The Committee is not part of the Village government and receives no Village funding.
Despite that, the volunteers did an outstanding job communicating today’s schedule changes due to the extreme heat through multiple channels, including the event website, social media, and local news outlets.

At some point, personal responsibility comes into play. Volunteers can make information readily available, but they cannot ensure that every individual sees it. Expecting a personal notification for every schedule change is simply unrealistic and overlooks the tremendous effort these volunteers contribute to make this community celebration possible.

shame on you dickhead. I did not receive an email. Some people have a life other than their keyboard. It was quite obvious by the fewer number of people compared to years past watching the parade that the word did not get out.
Some life you have, being on your keyboard complaining about a parade.
Reduced attendees likely had more to do with the oppressive heat. Speaking of oppressive, you dickless wonder, lighten up!
