Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, at last weeks’s Ho-Ho-Kus council meeting, Sgt. Gil, Officer Sweetman, and members of the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Crew were honored with a well-deserved CPR Save Award for their exceptional lifesaving efforts.
A Critical Response
On the evening of Sunday, May 12, 2024, Sgt. Gil and Officer Sweetman were dispatched to a call reporting a possible heart attack in progress. Upon arriving at the scene, they quickly assessed the situation and determined that immediate action was required. The patient had stopped breathing, prompting Sgt. Gil and Officer Sweetman to initiate CPR.
Teamwork in Action
Shortly after, the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Crew arrived on the scene to assist. Working together, they continued administering CPR until a Valley Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit arrived to take over.
A Life Saved
Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of Sgt. Gil, Officer Sweetman, and the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Crew, the patient’s vitals began to intermittently return during the ambulance ride to the hospital. Upon arrival at the emergency room, the patient was ultimately stabilized.
Recognizing Excellence
The CPR Save Award presented at the council meeting serves as a testament to the dedication and skill of these first responders. Their prompt and effective actions made a critical difference, exemplifying the highest standards of public service and community care.
