Westwood NJ, Westwood Mayor Ray Arroyo and the Governing Body recently paid tribute to the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club for their unwavering support and dedication to the community. Following this year’s September 11th ceremonies, the club was formally recognized during Westwood’s final meeting of 2024, marking the 35th anniversary of the Nam Knights’ founding.

The Nam Knights have stood by Westwood since 2001 when former Mayor Skip Kelley began the tradition of their participation in the annual September 11th remembrance. Over the years, they’ve been steadfast in honoring the lives lost, including first responders and citizens like Christopher Hrbek and Michael J. Goble, who perished in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and during their service in Afghanistan.

In 2022, Westwood added a memorial in Veterans’ Park dedicated to the ironworkers and first responders who combed through the World Trade Center ruins in search of survivors and, later, the remains of the victims. The Nam Knights have stood alongside the community every step of the way, ensuring the memories of these heroes endure.

Born out of a desire to support fellow veterans and the families of fallen police officers, the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club embodies a legacy of service and patriotism. After facing indifference upon returning home from the Vietnam War, these veterans chose to embrace their nation with acts of dedication and volunteerism, extending support to Gold Star families and their communities.

“The Nam Knights have given back in ways that far exceed what was given to them,” said Mayor Arroyo. “Westwood deeply appreciates their commitment to service, their support, and their enduring presence in the life of our town.”

The heartfelt ceremony underscored the importance of community, remembrance, and gratitude, offering a moment to celebrate the Nam Knights’ powerful contributions over the decades.
