Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Village Manager Heather Mailander announced during Wednesday evening’s Village Council Public Workshop that the hours of Graydon Pool will be from 11:00 AM through 7:00 PM for the Summer 2023 swimming season.

Traditionally (prior to the 2020 COVID-19 related adjustment in operational hours), Graydon hours were 10:00 AM through 7:30 PM.
Why the change in hours for 2023? According to the Village Council, a sufficient number of lifeguards has already been recruited.  What gives? Were those who have already purchased season badges told in advance of the reduction in hours?
Hopefully, Mayor Paul Vagianos will be able to get to the bottom of this and “traditional” operating hours will be restored.

  1. There is no department in the Village more screwed up than Parks & Rec. What a joke.

  2. Graydon is just a thorn In Nancy’s side. Slowly but surely every trick will be implemented in an attempt to kill it off by making it unappealing. Glad someone caught this cheap trick.

    1. Yep she is too busy ruining Habernickel to care about the beloved and beautiful graydon. An asset to the town.

  3. come on…plenty of staff hired
    hrs sb 10-8

  4. Good Question!

  5. I didn’t join last year because the year before they pulled all kinds of nonsense. closing down the adult section at the far end on many days and then had to sit in the kiddie section as it was the only one with a lifeguard! Then to top it off, they clained that they were shutting it down on Labor Day due to high levels of bacteria but word around town 2 weeks prior was that they weren’t going to be open on Labor Day. For residents to have to hear this from Village gossip is outrageous. They pat themselves on the back for what they think are such great things, when they are constantly screwing up.

  6. More cuts at Graydon this year and they keep coming after I buy my season badge. Charge a little more and go back to full hours and full staff and lifeguards.

  7. Why is Bigios still running parks and rec? What gives

  8. Make it a real pool made of concrete and slides. ((See Ramsey))

    1. $$,$$$,$$$. Anti-up. See where your taxes go then!
The new turn over of new house buyers coming in, believing the great promises made by the realtors.
They demand all those promises be made. Look at the sports group, using tactics , hey it was promised to them that their kids would get more baseball fields, the high ranking schools. They want it at everyone’s cost.

  9. Bait and switch.

If you want to talk tradition, the REAL tradition was to close at sunset. It was slightly different every day.

  10. I found a great pool in another town. I ain’t no sucker to pay for the miserable experience supplied by the parks department. It will get better though, PV is working on it.

  11. The town is broke, wait till next year. You better duck, because that shit will hit the fan. Forget about furloughs big layoffs your people better start paying your bills.

  12. Make it a fishing pond .

  13. It’s time for Nancy to retire.
