Ridgewood NJ, from the Take Back Ridgewood Facebook page , Your Village Manager is questioning spending 40K on an election (are we living in democracy?), while she was busy in spending 122K of OUR money to get construction documents for a design that was yet to be discussed with public?
They asked for change order of $120,000.00 because they had already spent the $295,000.00 on all of the plans for a design that was not finalized!! And we wonder why they won’t budge on the current plan. Do not blame us for wasting the taxpayers dollars!

I have a problem with her resident/village employee activism. It is also called a conflict of interest. The new council needs a Village Manager who can focus on the job, not on politics. IF/WHEN the garage gets approved she should get to work on it. Otherwise, Stay out of the arm twisting.
She’s a resident too…entitled to chime in….but not throw her weight around if that is in fact what she’s doing….

What if Roberta disagrees with new council decisions? Will she go atound, exercising free speech, and bad mouth their decisions?
Being a resident and employee lets her have it both ways.
Her behavior will be explained once she leaves her current position. She’s clearly hitched her wagon to someone, and this will be evident when she moves on to her next role.
So far she was thinking that she is the CEO and the Mayor and controls all council members.
As of today she thinks she is Village Clerk too. She has a full page ad on page 3 of Ridgewood News – asking petitioners to contact her if they want to withdraw their petition.
Hello??? That’s the job of village clerk, not village manager.

Legally, the only vote she has is in the booth like all of the other residents. However she seems to think she’s a voting member of the council. She serves at the pleasure of the Village Government and residents, until she doesn’t.
9:18 AM, I beg to differ. Once a person is elected or hired, his or her freedom to express personal views in public changes dramatically, at least until out of office or job. And let’s hope that will apply to R.S. before the end of the year. Then she can write all the letters to the editor she wants, but not berate her fellow residents who are trying to make a point.
So far, on facebook ONLY Rurik has supported her on the special election cost issue. She should take a hint and move on.
ALL we can say is next’ed. New manager in the summer time, wow we sure see a lot of new managers come and go.Right, But this time we will see a few lap dog’s going with her. Right. And we all know who they are, Right. My god bring back J t any time. no wonder no one comes for a job in this town.

Actually 1213, the letter from counsel on the village website supports her view as well. The letter circulated for the petition is not a legal opinion as it is not on legal letterhead. I hate to bring up facts but I do believe Faulkner act provisions hold as the village is governed under Faulkner provisions. If someone can produce a legal opinion that says otherwise regarding the need to hold a special election it would really help.
