the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewod Nj, Reader says , “My take away from last night is, “who is looking out for Ridgewood?”. The best questions/ concerns came from public comment which was so limited and restrictive. The majority of Valley’s testimony centered around aesthetics: different colors and shadings on the buildings to minimize the visual perception, green coverage to hide the mechanicals, monitoring of all the potential environmental negatives, etc.
Blais was obviously sick last night but his comment about the need to balance the positive and negatives of the expansion and also considering the regional needs was very telling.
Are there any benefits to Ridgewood in this? I only see Valley telling us how they will deal with the negatives. How will exiting more cars onto Linwood ever work and trucks will travel back and forth down Glenn, make a left on Van Dien and then back out the same route? BF just put in a new driveway with an exit onto Glenn.
My feelings are we should not amend the Master Plan and continue operating under the 2010 version. The Valley project is too big for the 15 acre lot. There is no way around this fact. Where is our counter offense? It wasn’t there last night and our only hope is that the council votes against the ordinances needed to push this through. Jeff was really great last night. It is so hard to be heard.
They are wearing us down. How many meetings will there be on these monster building projects? There seems to be weekly meetings in the works. When the schools plan big events they check a master calendar to ensure that there are not conflict with other school events. The council schedules them for their schedule.
How about a day information session?
If we had a working Master Plan this would not be a problem. All projects of this scale would have been addressed. Pfund messed things up and subsequent councild did not fix it.
Does the council think that there are any residents who want all these projects? They could not see the forest for the trees.
Reader…That’s the way hearings work… the questioning has to be based on what is presented by whom and the questions directly based on that subject matter following the individual testimony…. there will be room for more public commentary but these hearings are not the same as council sessions.
7:51 Your first sentence sums up exactly what they want to do. The not so funny part is that it is a relatively small group of people trying to make fools of those who really know that this project is not in the best interest of Ridgewood. It’s all about satisfying some egos with big time personal agendas at the expense of an entire town. Wake up, Ridgewood, before it’s too late.
Blais needs to be replaced.

Massive billboards should be rented and block lettered in ridgewood at train stations with this truth for all to see.
Let’s not them wear us down. We are the ill gear term nvestors in this town we ..the taxpayers .,we float all the boats here
I think that Mrs. Hauck is the most egregious example of Ridgewood’s poor representation. While negotiating the Village’s settlement of the Hospital’s lawsuit against us, she gave Valley virtually everything they’ve ever asked for – even after Valley acknowledged that their expansion will be detrimental to Ridgewood (but good for the region – yay!). I understand that Mrs. Hauck has deep affection for and a long affiliation with Valley, but as a Council person she should be looking out for the people she was elected to represent. It’s a shame that the Village will be changed forever over the handful of votes that she won by.
Well, it’s not our government, so it’s on us to Take Back Ridegwood!! Go Monday night to the Valley meeting. Sign the garage petition, talk to your neighbors and friends!! We have a choice we can roll over and do nothing, or get vocal, participate and give it all we got! I know it’s not easy… Exhausting, irritating but we are near a positive change…. The election. Stay strong people, we are near the end of a long and terrible reign.
If the students at BF and nearby residents become ill from the fumes and airborne debris. Valley will treat them, and charge them. If the village requires additional police and fire service. Valley will accept their services free of charge. Because they are benefit to the region. If a kid is killed by a truck related to the construction. Valley will pronounce them dead. This all seems bazaar? Not really, they had one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey at one of their latest events as an honored guest.
