Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood location remains unaffected, but according to the U.S. Department of Labor officials an investigations of 10 locations of Jersey Mike’s Subs in four states, including Freehold, Long Branch, Neptune and Red Bank in New Jersey, found the teen employees were allowed to work past 7 p.m. on school days, past 9 p.m. in the summer and more than three hours on school days.
Officials say the employer also failed to maintain proof-of-age documents for minors, all violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s child labor provisions.
In total, Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems Inc. paid $24,660 in civil money penalties. News 12 reached out to Jersey Mike’s for comment, but they did not get back to us.
Labor Department has no issue fining a business for having individuals work (who were probably happy doing what they were doing), but the Labor Department will never investigate the fraudulent unemployment claims people made during COVID simply so they didn’t have to work. Businesses have hard enough times finding employees since the democrats continue to encourage “free stuff” and a lack of work ethic. Absolute clown world we live in.
Oh No.
Kids working.
The horrors.
