Just Wondering if the village owns a street sweeper anymore. Reason being my family and I went Into the CBD to have lunch. And then we went for a nice walk and we all noticed the streets are very filthy with Litter, just wondering what’s going on. Because we haven’t seen this before. It’s starting to look like New York City. Well anyway hopefully this will be addressed.

Street sweepers essentially are dirt pushers…nothing actually gets picked up.
Disgusting and that’s a fresh rat that must’ve got killed. What are they waiting for a hawk to come pick it up. My God ,embarrassing what the hell is going on. Years ago this never look like this. Who is in charge, who’s running things.

Forget that, that’s not going to happen you know that. And they were wondering why the CBD is dead. We are trying to lore shoppers into the town and they see this , And on top of it we are charging them to park on top of filth. No wonder they’re going other places to shop and eat. Omg ! The mayor needs to leave Village Hall , and go for a ride and start looking at the streets because they are filthy. There’s no excuse for this. There’s definitely extremely poor daily choices being made regarding running day-to-day operation‘S . What else would it be.
I believe the town is shorthanded after some new retirees recently and I know for a fact the 2 sweepers constantly break down. 2 of the retirees actually ran the sweepers.

There are plenty of people collecting checks from the village who should be out sweeping the streets.
how about the garbage left on Hillcrest road for days by the gate house tenant. not her home so who cares! so you messed up the bulk collection day, bring your shit in. Disgraceful BUT again just a tenant not a neighbor!
Excuses. We haven’t had snow in three weeks. What’s the excuse. If the sweepers are breaking down well then go rent one. Or call sweeping service company they would be glad to sweep the CBD. Not every town owns a sweeper. My old town Had a sweeping service come in and sweep up the town.

Get a contractor, low bidder.
No more wasted money on equipment, salaries, pensions, med benefits.
If contractor doesnt perform, cancell and get another (and require a performance bond)
It’s not just the CBD. I live near HHK border and the street + sidewalk is a filth with a mix of huge geese droppings, tree debris and discarded face masks. While I know village won’t give a sh!t about it I don’t understand why the residents don’t make an effort to at least clean the stuff by their properties. I mean there are thrown masks right on their grass. The more the village services deteriorate the more indifferent people become and it’s a shame. I have always said we need a good Village Manager and we haven’t had an even half decent one since forever.
To those who rant about the level of , lack thereof, or excesses in tax payer services provided to the citizens in Ridgewood, especially those apartment renters including any member of this blog’s staff that doesn’t presently own property in Ridgewood that is taxed to pay for those services, your opinions are noted but should be taken with a grain of salt.

We just completed our investigation and there was only one retiree In. The d p w department that Operated the sweeper.
The other two employees retired in the parks department.
We are sure that we have more than one operator can operate the sweeper.
Obviously we have a major problem with communication and daily day-to-day operations. Who is in charge. Obviously lack of experience. Because it shows.
Business owners of the CBD are finding this Unacceptable. How can this not be inspected by supervision.
There is no excuse for this. Obviously someone doesn’t care. And they are not doing their job. It’s just ridiculous. Well We guess it’s time for a change from the top . This obviously doesn’t look good for them. We know are going to have Special meeting with the Chamber of Commerce.

I was in the CBD yesterday and I was shocked by the decaying-Hackensack feel that the town has.
Bad streets.
Dirty sidewalks.
Closed businesses.
Oversized “tenement” housing.
Run down Exteriors of businesses.
Just a very non-Ridgewood, “non-Special”, just Old-and-Ordinary feel to it.
Very sad.
Do you remember back in the 80s on the town looked like a ghost town.
I’m seeing extremely lack of experience.

Very Disappointed in the village.
I was in downtown Glenrock today and their streets are spotless. I’m sure if we need a sweeper my next-door neighbor town may be willing to let us borrow it for a few days.
