New Milford Police Seize Nearly 2 Pounds of Marijuana in Late-Night Traffic Stop

New Milford NJ, A routine traffic stop in New Milford escalated into a major drug bust early Thursday morning, resulting in the seizure of nearly two pounds of marijuana and the arrest of a New York City man with active warrants.

Midnight Patrol Leads to Discovery

At approximately 1:35 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, New Milford Police Officer Shane Churaman stopped a vehicle near the River Edge border on New Bridge Road. While the initial stop was for multiple equipment and moving violations, the situation shifted the moment officers approached the window.

According to Police Captain Kevin Van Saders, officers spotted a “large bag containing suspected packaged marijuana” in plain view, along with numerous smaller packages and a marijuana preparation tray inside the car.

The Tally: 28 Ounces of Packaged Products

New Milford backup officers, including Sgt. Przemyslaw Boinski and Officer Brian Johnson, arrived to assist in a full search of the vehicle. Under New Jersey law, the amount visible significantly exceeded legal personal possession limits.

The search ultimately uncovered:

• 28 ounces (1.75 pounds) of marijuana.

• Numerous products specifically packaged for distribution.

• Various items of drug paraphernalia.

Arrest and Outstanding Warrants

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Fausto Angel Cabo of New York City, was found to have more than just a car full of illegal products. A background check revealed that Cabo had an outstanding warrant out of Millburn Township.

Cabo was taken into custody and faces several serious charges:

• Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS)

• Two counts of Possession of a CDS

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Following his arrest, Cabo was transported to the Bergen County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center.
