Wayne NJ, a Little Ferry man, Denys Ludisaca, 23, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenage girl at Willowbrook Mall earlier this month, according to Passaic County authorities.
Arrest and Charges
Ludisaca was taken into custody on January 16 following an investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
He faces multiple charges, including:
- First-degree kidnapping
- Two counts of second-degree sexual assault
- Third-degree endangering the welfare of a child
The arrest was announced by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Deputy Police Chief Joseph Rooney.
Details of the Incident
Authorities say the assault occurred on January 11 at approximately 10:56 p.m. in a secluded area of Willowbrook Mall.
The victim, a girl between the ages of 13 and 15, reported the attack to law enforcement, prompting an investigation that identified Ludisaca as the suspect. Members of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and Wayne Police arrested him at the mall.
Potential Penalties if Convicted
Ludisaca faces severe legal consequences if convicted:
- First-degree kidnapping: 25 years to life in prison, with a mandatory minimum of 25 years if the victim is under 16.
- Second-degree sexual assault: 5 to 10 years per count, with 85% of the sentence required to be served under the No Early Release Act.
- Third-degree child endangerment: 3 to 5 years in prison.
Additionally, he would be required to register under Megan’s Law and face lifetime parole supervision.
Current Status and Ongoing Investigation
Ludisaca is currently being held at Bergen County Jail. On Monday, January 22, Superior Court Judge Joseph A. Portelli ordered that he remain in custody pending trial.
