Lonegan : Missile Strike Would Be Act of War
September 4, 2013

“The American people will not be dragged into another ill-advised war. A missile strike would increase the likelihood of both an al-Qaeda regime in Syria and the likelihood that the President would call for boots on the ground. The American people do not want another war. We cannot afford another war.”

METUCHEN, NJ – Mayor Steve Lonegan, Republican candidate for the United States Senate, responded to yesterday’s Senate hearing regarding missile strikes in Syria.

In response to the hearing, Lonegan said, “Whether Secretary Kerry admits it or not, a missile strike is an act of war.”

Lonegan continued, “The American people will not be dragged into another ill-advised war. A missile strike would increase the likelihood of both an al-Qaeda regime in Syria and the likelihood that the President would call for boots on the ground. The American people do not want another war. We cannot afford another war.”

“I will continue to stand for the interests of the American people in our foreign policy and for individual liberty at home. Cory Booker will not take a stand on this missile strike other than timidly deferring to President Obama’s whims.”

In the hearing, Secretary of State John Kerry declared, “President Obama is not asking America to go to war,” while also admitting that an escalation of violence in Syria could require American troops on the ground, and General Martin Dempsey conceded that a proposed strike would weaken Syria’s overall military capability, including Assad’s ability to fend off al-Qaeda rebels.

Lonegan served as Bogota Mayor for twelve years, winning three times in a town that gave Barack Obama 67.5 percent of the vote in 2012. He served for seven years as state director of Americans for Prosperity New Jersey, where he helped defeat liberal attempts to expand big government. Steve Lonegan is the conservative Republican candidate in the New Jersey special election for the United States Senate. Lonegan stands firmly on the bedrock conservative values of small government, fiscal responsibility and individual liberty.

  1. and a Sarin gas rocket attack is an act of war against humanity.

  2. “another ill-advised war”

So is he saying that Bush’s wars were ill-advised?

Did Lonegan speak out against those wars at the time? Or is hindsight 20/20?

  3. Lonegan unlike Booker is 100% correct and unlike Booker not afraid to say so
