Man Arrested After Spending Night Inside Teaneck High School

Teaneck NJ, the man who entered Teaneck High School during a March 12 school board meeting and remained inside overnight has been arrested, according to police.

Arrest and Identification

Ryon Reid, 37, was taken into custody Thursday at 5:09 p.m. by Officer James Zwerling, who spotted him walking on Cedar Lane near the municipal building. Police say Reid was still wearing the same outer clothing captured on school surveillance footage.

Security cameras show a man entering Teaneck High School at 8:42 p.m. on March 12, while the board meeting was in progress. He reportedly wandered the building overnight before exiting at 5:42 a.m.

Reid was arrested without incident, police confirmed.

Shocking Discovery: $500,000 in Stolen Savings Bonds

At the time of his arrest, Reid was found in possession of:

United States Savings Bonds worth approximately $500,000
Death certificates of a deceased Brooklyn couple whose names were on the bonds

Detectives are now investigating how Reid acquired these stolen financial assets and are working to locate the rightful heirs.

Charges and Investigation

Reid faces charges of burglary and theft related to the March 12 school incident, as well as receiving stolen property. He has been remanded to the Bergen County Rehabilitation and Correctional Facility.

How Did Reid Stay Undetected?

Superintendent Andre Spencer informed parents that a school safety officer was monitoring the premises when Reid entered. However, he was able to roam the school unnoticed for several hours.

🔹 Two perimeter alarms went off at 12:42 a.m. and 1:36 a.m., prompting police responses. However, officers found all doors and windows secure upon inspection.
🔹 No alarm was triggered when Reid finally left the building the next morning.
