Mayor makes another ‘unprofessional’ move

To the Editor:
The firing of Village Manager Ken Gabbert is the latest in a series of dismal episodes exemplifying Mayor Paul Aronsohn’s poor judgment as a leader in our community.
While the Village Council had the right to dismiss Dr. Gabbert without cause, I feel the taxpayers deserve a concrete reason for such a major change, especially since Mr. Aronsohn was so outspokenly determined to get rid of him. Moreover, by placing “Village Manager’s Office” on the Closed Session Village Council meeting agendas, week after week, month after month, the mayor deceived taxpayers by leading us to believe that Dr. Gabbert’s job performance was being discussed, when in fact it never was.
The dismissal of the village manager can be added to a growing list of unprofessional actions taken by our mayor, which include:

If the Village Manager’s job performance was being discussed in closed session, it would be considered a personnel issue and details would not be included in publicly released closed session minutes. Most people don’t understand the OPRA laws but are quick to criticize.
Good point except they didn’t deny that they didn’t even discuss it in closed as we were all led to believe. They lied to us!
I can’t wait till he moves on to another position.
Nobody said anything about reviewing closed-session meeting minutes. It was revealed publicly that Gabbert’s performance was never discussed not even once, even though it was on the agenda. Clearly this was a deception.
And Aronsohn certainly did not hesitate to be public with a personnel issue when it came to Riche – in spite of the fact that the Village Attorney specifically told him to keep that out of the public discussion
Why are you still talking about this???? HE’s fired!!! Gone!!! Let’s move on now!
Oh puleeze get over it !!!! he’s done move on.
This story is not about Gabbert. It is about Aronsohn. It is time for HIM to be fired, done, gone.
