Actions against ousted Village Manager Ken Gabbert, particularly those taken by Ridgewood’s Council majority, were politically motivated and “devoid of any good faith,” according to a letter addressed to members of the governing body and sent last week by Gabbert’s attorney.
The Upper Saddle River resident, who spent nearly four years in the municipality’s top administrator position, had been placed on suspension effective Aug. 31 by the Village Council, and subsequently vacated his office last weekend. The move is considered the first step in permanently terminating Gabbert from the manager position.
Council members are expected to vote on a Final Resolution of Removal during their public meeting set for Sept. 18. Village Clerk Heather Mailander has been named to fill in as acting village manager.

ya think?
“But Gabbert’s decision, according to Regan, is not considered a “waiver by the village manager of any and all rights and remedies he may have at his disposal against the village and the members of the council” who voted for the suspension and the Preliminary Resolution of Removal.”
Cha-ching.
Thanks Paul.
Another HUGE mistake by Mr. Aronsohn. He was like a bulldog trying to get rid of Gabbert, and WHY???? Now Gabbert will, rightly, cause trouble.
Oh good. So now we can spend more money we don’t have defending a lawsuit. Brilliant move, Paul (and your two sidekicks). Typical liberal approach — who cares about the real life consequences to the citizens as a result of a poor decision, as long as it makes me feel good, strokes my ego, and I get what I want out of it, citizens be damned.
Of course he will cause trouble….that’s what workers on the public dole do.
Still glad to see him go.
Glad to see him go too, but couldn’t we have council members with enough sense to build a case as to why he should go? Now, he appears to be a martyr.
