Subject: Parking Campaign — Help Make it HappenDear Neighbor,Our campaign to build a downtown parking deck is gaining momentum.
The design<https://www.northjersey.
All of this is leading to election day. On November 3, Ridgewood voters will have a chance to express their support for a parking deck … a widely-shared goal that has eluded our community for generations.
There are several ways to support this campaign:
ü Learn: If you would like to see parking proposals/studies dating back to 1945 … please visit the library archives<https://www.
ü Discuss: I would welcome the opportunity to come talk about our parking garage plans with you, your friends, your neighbors and your colleagues. Please contact me to schedule a date and time. Also, we will continue to discuss this initiative in public meetings. Please see Village website<https://www.
ü Promote: In our effort to generate awareness and excitement, we have law signs, posters and palm cards to distribute. (See design is below.) If you want some … just say the word, and we will deliver them to you.
ü Share: Please share this email with friends and neighbors.
ü Vote: On November 3, you will have the chance to express your support for a downtown parking garage. Please vote. And please encourage your friends and family to vote, too.
Together, let’s make history.
Thank you.
Paul
Paul Aronsohn, Mayor
Village of Ridgewood
@paularonsohn
Exactly who is the “we” who have “lawn signs, posters and palm cards to deliver?” Is he referring to the Village Council or Village employees? Was this a tax payer supported initiative? Very confusing since it’s signed “Mayor of Ridgewood.”
Relax, no scandal here!
No taxpayer money whatsoever was spent on the lawn signs and palm cards. The Chamber of Commerce paid most of the cost and the balance came from private contributions. As the previous writer said “there is no scandal here”………but there has been 88 years of waiting and hoping for a solution to the parking problem in town..
And the “we” Mayor of Ridgewood is referring to Mr./Ms. “No Scandal Here?”
Free speech. Politicians have the same rights as us. I thought he was in favor, now I know for sure.
Snore….
James, the Aronsohn apologist are at it again with Dom acting as head Cheerleader.
$13,000,000 of spending the taxpayers WILL be on the hook for may not be the solution.
The report makes it clear the parking deck has a $750,000 per year hole that needs to be plugged.
Whatever portion can’t be filled by $1.25 per hour meter rates will be filled by taxpayers.
Maybe the CBD could put up some of the money, since it seems to benefit them the most.
Can anyone figure out from reading the report what the necessary occupancy rate of the garage is in order to achieve the projected numbers? Must it be full 24/7 (highly unlikely) or is there some other % given?
My $100 says that taxpayers will get the big shaft on this one.
I guess now that his personal press secretary Chris Harris is gone from The Record, the Mayor figures he needs to take matters into his own hands.
Mayor should not be acting neutral-ish in public while cheerleading in private. UGH.
This is scandalous in my opinion. Who the hell is he to send out such a blatantly misleading email? No mention of the extended parking hours. No mention of the increased costs. No mention that the so-called number-crunching includes that they are basing their projections on every parking space being occupied all the time. No mention of the fact that the garage will be in operation 24 hours a day. No mention that parking for the church will be seriously compromised if not completely eliminated on Hudson, meaning that parishioners will have to park in the garage to attend services. No mention that there will possibly be a change in direction of traffic on Hudson. This stupid email is so misleading that it would be laughable, except that it is very serious.
The “WE” absolutely implies that it comes from all five council members, most especially because he officially signs it as the Mayor.
