  1. I guess the Mayor’s kids were all hired leaving an opening for someone else. Who’s he related to?

  2. Who is he related to?

  3. There’s a money saver for the village…eliminate these bozos and we save millions. We DO NOT need a full time paid FD . Paramus that is 5 times the size of Ridgewood has managed the process for years.

  4. There is nothing wrong with a full time paid fire department. We all have to make a living either doing something we love or not. How would you like not to get paid to do your job. After all they are risking their lives to save yours. Congratulations to all!

  5. Hey 10:57 AM, can we expect your application for Volunteer Firefighter in the near future? Or are you one of those who want other people to volunteer so you can save a few dimes on your property taxes?

  6. Paid fire department is not a problem. Hiring relatives is a problem. Everyone that’s hired in fire, police, or municipal job is related to someone.
Also double dipping is a problem.
Finally low copayment on health insurance is a problem.

  7. A few dimes 9:31? Obviously you’re just towing the RPD line that only includes annual operating costs. i call BS. You’re not including excessive pension, accumulated paid leave, and platinum healthcare coverage in your calculation, or the cost of the two fully staffed fire stations, including the boondoggle on a flood plain. The paid FD is a luxury we can no longer afford, and Valley can handle the EMS service without the duplication from the RFD. Why is that our most expensive municipal employees and pensioners are mostly cops and fire? Pure greed and avarice, supported by pension thugs like yourself and spouses like Lauren above.

  8. 3:08 I see nothing wrong with giving them pensions and healthcare that they deserve. Maybe you should seek for a job that will offer you one.

  9. 5:13, the pensions and healthcare municipal employees in the RFD and RPD get are worth far more than anyone deserves. Comparable health coverage in the private sector is bronze level coverage, not platinum. So why are Village residents, many of whom work in the private sector, subsidizing better healthcare coverage than they get themselves for Village employees? It’s wrong. As for pensions, most private sector workers have defined ‘contribution’ plans that are free from Trenton meddling. Should be the same for municipal employees instead of the excessive – and expensive – defined ‘benefit’ plans the RPD and RFD get today. Time to diminish these excessive benefits they don’t deserve.
