Maywood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of KEITH J. BALASA (DOB: 05/04/1968; divorced; construction worker) , Maywood, NJ, on a charge of possession of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On Friday, July 7, 2023, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of KEITH J. BALASA during a months-long Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that BALASA used the Internet to view, download and possess items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.
As a result of the investigation, KEITH J. BALASA was arrested on Friday, July 7, 2023, in Paramus, NJ, and charged with third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)iii. BALASA was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would also like to thank the Maywood Police Department for its assistance, as well as the Washington Township Police Department which participates in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
