Paramus NJ, a medical episode led to a serious crash on Friday afternoon, September 27, on the exit ramp from Route 17 southbound to Century Road eastbound in Paramus. A 4-door passenger vehicle collided head-on with a utility pole, completely knocking it down.
The driver had to be extricated by officers from the Paramus Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit, while the passenger managed to exit the vehicle without assistance. Both individuals were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with the help of a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital.
First responders from the Paramus Fire Department and the Paramus Rescue Squad also arrived on the scene to assist. After the wreckage was cleared by a flatbed tow truck, crews from PSE&G and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) worked to address the damaged utility pole, downed wires, and traffic control signs impacted by the crash.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of quick response times and teamwork from local emergency services in handling unexpected situations on the road.
