Paramus NJ, a construction project to install guard rails along the shoulder of Route 17 southbound in Paramus took an unexpected turn on Friday morning, September 27, when workers accidentally punctured a large water main. The incident led to the closure of both the right shoulder and right travel lane between the Paramus Park overpass and Midland Avenue as crews raced to contain the situation.
Water company workers were quickly on the scene to shut off the water supply and begin repairs on the damaged main. The force of the rushing water also compromised a nearby utility pole, prompting PSE&G’s Electric Division to dispatch a team to assess its stability.
Despite the disruption, no injuries were reported. The Paramus Police Department and fire inspectors from the Paramus Fire Department responded to ensure the area remained safe for repairs.
With traffic slowed and repair efforts underway, the incident highlights the potential risks involved in routine construction work and the importance of quick response from both utility companies and emergency services.

Ridgewood water is a joke, the Director sat there at the council meeting with his tale between his legs, his speech was oh, which is following everything from DEP, that’s all great, that wasn’t done with the soil was it. Where was your brain then, and I’m not sure if this individual is still in charge of operations, if he is, that’s all bullshit. How can a director of water be responsible for sanitation, recycling, and operations of the whole town bullshit. They should change his title , That is in charge of water only, the utility only. Let’s stop all this bullshit.
Has this Director ever went out and do sanitation or recycling? I don’t think so.
It is somehow Midland Parks fault. Just ask kaxmark
