Ridgewood NJ, Dana Glazer posted in the Facebook group “It Takes a Ridgewood Village” of his ejection from the Women for Progress Facebook group:
Dear It Takes A Ridgewood Village Members,
I want to share that I have been removed by Erin Chung from her Women for Progress FB group for posting the below message.
I bring this to your attention not out of spite but to make you aware that not everyone who professes to progressive/democratic ideals is necessarily truly aligned with them and that they should be seen for who and what they are.
As you know, Ridgewood is having a Village Council election in a matter of days. Given that we have a non-partisan local government, the candidates should be evaluated on their own merits and not in relation to their national affiliations. I’m a strong supporter of Mayor Susan Knudsen because she has been nothing but honest, reliable and hard working in her stewardship of Ridgewood. Having interacted with her for several years now, I know her heart is in the right place and that she is a good and well-meaning person. So, for a candidate like Alexandra Harwin to oppose her with an intentionally disingenuous smear campaign to rile up Democrats against her and use our ‘Blue Wave’ as a weapon is flat out wrong.
Women For Progress has been working hard to support Ms. Harwin, ignoring Ridgewood’s non-partisan framework. That is misguided. But to do so with the knowledge of her tactics is to condone this wrongful behavior – and that needs to be addressed.
I hope that you will share this note with other Democrats in our area so that people can know the truth about the situation. Thanks for doing your part.

Fellow Progressives,
As a Ridgewood resident, I am deeply concerned about Women for Progress’ involvement in the upcoming Ridgewood Village Council election and how it could negatively impact our common goals for November.
Today I received a flyer in the mail from ‘Harwin for Council’ that grievously associates Mayor Knudsen with Nazism.
This is wrong.
This is not who we are as progressives, Democrats or frankly, Americans.
This is what we are fighting against: Trumpian smear tactics that viciously and falsely attack the character of the opposition.
In the same way that it is important to call out and denounce such tactics when it comes from the Conservative side, so too is it essential for us to speak out against a candidate who professes to have progressive values but chooses to use these same attacks.
To have Women For Progress associate with this candidate in any way will only damage the group’s reputation when it comes to November because to support such a candidate is to support an individual willing to go low to win – and that we cannot abide.
Thank you for your time and for doing the right thing by speaking against this wrongful behavior.
So by “contributes” do the Harwinites claim that the Mayor sends money or just writes posts? If it’s the latter, then virtually every candidate and Councilperson has also “contributed”. If it’s the former, where is the proof?
It was about time national politics and especially the sinister agenda of the left entered our local life. Good to see a liberal denouncing his side. I remember Dana speaking in strong terms and denouncing Trump in local blogs when he was elected which he shouldn’t have done. Regardless, I respect him as I do not care what side you’re on as long as you are honest and just. I hope many others on the liberal side will side with Dana for the sake of our town.

Candidate Harwin just locked up the votes of everyone that thinks this blog and it’s regular contributors are a blight on Ridgewood. That alone should assure her victory.

Many, many Harwin supporters have and still do post on the blog. I post on the blog and find that James is the only one who goes into detail about town politics. As far as contributing money, I don’t remember a single request for monetary contributions. I vote issues. Susan and Mike have accomplished much. But the recent Lehman and Harwin fliers are the worst I’ve seen in our local elections ever. A vote for the challengers brings back the old guard( Aronsohn and company) along with Voigt who thinks he is our next mayor. Now there is another reason to vote on May 8th for Knudsen and Sedon!

I post anonymously. Would I look more authentic if I posted under the name of Joe Smith, or Sam Jones? I can tell you that posting under an actual real name would be asking for getting my car damaged overnight, getting my building permits lost/denied, having my kids school grades lowered, etc.
Yes, 4:25, what you say is unfortunate, but true. Posting under one’s name almost guarantees insults, being called snippily by one’s first name, and other bad stuff from people who have nothing better to do than to slam anybody with an opinion. It doesn’t even have to be on a volatile subject. Anonymity has become imperative even though it can also play tricks. Without it, though, there would be no possible forum at all.
@4:25. Agree. It is sketchy out there in Ridgewood Be careful who u vote for. I thought all of the above plus some would happen when Aronsohn was in office after I spoke at a meeting. Actually some did I finally felt relief but now if his lackies get in watch out. 4:45 statement is not far from the truth

Try opening your mind one step further and realize that America and the entire World, is a better, stronger, happier, more fair and more prosperous place now under President Trumps leadership than at any time during the 8 years of the corrupt Obama/Clinton Administration.
Have any of the fears of the LGBT or minority community, that had been so ominously forecast by the mass media, that we’re sure to occur under Trumps leadership come to pass?
Are women’s rights being infringed upon?
The answer is No, “Arising tide lifts all boats.”
Unemployment for all groups of Americans is at historic lows.
People don’t want government handouts. There is divinity in hard work.
Trump is leading the free world with his peace through strength philosophy and getting the government out of the way of American entrepreneurs.
Opportunities abound!
Dana, please open your mind a few steps further and realize that Trump is not the devil ,as portrayed by the mass media, and that conservative values make America and the World a better place.

Sorry 610 but liberalism is a mental disorder and any amount of effort trying to conver the likes of a Dana is simply a waste of time. Only one way to deal with the likes of a liberal and that’s treating them the same way they treat us. We’ll see who wins that battle.
