Hasbrouck Heights NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrests of ROMULO CHAIDEZ MEDRANO (DOB: 6/7/1992; single; and unemployed) of 12 Oton Almada, Sinaloa, Mexico and ARCENIO CHAIDEZ MEDRANO (DOB: 10/20/1982; single; and unemployed) of Angel de la guarda 1534A Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico on charges of Possession With Intent To Distribute A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely crystal methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
On Friday, November 9, 2018, pursuant to a narcotic investigation, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Romulo CHAIDEZ MEDRANO and Arcenio CHAIDEZ MEDRANO were travelling to Bergen County with the intent to distribute large amounts of crystal methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl. Romulo CHAIDEZ MEDRANO and Arcenio CHAIDEZ MEDRANO were subsequently located in Hasbrouck Heights and arrested. At the time of their arrests, they were in possession of thirteen kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, three and one half kilograms of heroin, six thousand two hundred fifty-five tablets of fentanyl, as well as three pounds of raw fentanyl. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $3,000,000.00.
Romulo CHAIDEZ MEDRANO and Arcenio CHAIDEZ MEDRANO were each charged with two counts of Possession With Intent To Distribute A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely crystal methamphetamine and heroin, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(1), both 1st degree crimes; and one count of Possession With Intent To Distribute A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely fentanyl, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(4), a 2nd degree crime. Romulo CHAIDEZ MEDRANO and Arcenio CHAIDEZ MEDRANO were remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending their first appearances in Central Municipal Court in Hackensack on November 21, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
