Missing Mahwah Man Found Drowned After Extensive Search

Mahwah NJ, Police officials confirmed that the Mahwah resident drowned, and that his body was found around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The body of a 24-year-old man has been recovered from a Dators Pond after he went missing while paddle boarding. The 24-year-old is believed to have drowned. He was out on the water with his older brother on Monday, according to police. He reportedly lost his balance and fell into the water.

Dive teams were called out to try to find the man, who has not been identified. Rescue crews, utilizing sonar devices and cadaver dogs, searched into the night but had to call off the search because of the darkness.
The search resumed Tuesday morning. The body was recovered around 8 a.m. Mahwah Police say that the missing man’s brother was able to get out of the water safely.

  2. It is unnecessary to drown in a pond in calm weather. Every child should be taught how to float, tread water, and do a basic swimming stroke. After some teenagers drowned in NYC (not at the same time), a plan was announced to have this happen with the cooperation of pools located near schools. Hope the plan is strengthened and towns around the country do something similar.

    Of course, if you can’t swim (we don’t necessarily know this), but want to paddleboard, you could wear an inflatable vest.
