Fair Lawn NJ, the half-century old Nabisco factory on Route 208 known for the cookie aroma may become the next victim of New Jersey’s anti-business high tax climate. While nothing is set in stone the Plant owner Mondelēz International is considering closing. Laurie Guzzinati, a senior director of corporate and government affairs in North America for Mondelēz , confirmed to NorthJersey.com  that on Tuesday, November 12th, Mondelēz met with unions and employees across the state to discuss options being weighed.

Mondelēz International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDLZ) sells snack food in over 150 countries around the world. With 2019 net revenues of approximately $26 billion.

Mondelēz International, Inc produces iconic global and local brands such as OREO, belVita and LU biscuits; Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka and Toblerone chocolate; Sour Patch Kids candy and Trident gum.

On November 11th , Mondelēz International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDLZ) announced the launch of the second annual State of Snacking™ report, a global consumer trends study examining the role of snacking in the lives of consumers around the world. This year’s report reveals proprietary insights and data around changing consumer behaviors including eating habits, shopping trends and the rising importance of mindful consumption of snacks throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The closing of this facility would have a devastating impact on 600 hardworking men and women and their families right here in North Jersey — workers who may no longer be able to put food on their tables in the midst of a global pandemic,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) today. “They have been loyal to the company for more than six decades, and worked multiple shifts during the height of the crisis, putting their own health on the line. I’m strongly urging Mondelez’s leadership to reconsider, to keep these jobs here in North Jersey, and to help make sure these workers can continue providing for their families. I’ve requested an emergency meeting with Mondelez for a detailed briefing on all the factors in their decision. Demand for Oreos has skyrocketed during the pandemic, raising questions about the plant closure. We all fear that these jobs will move to Mexico, which is clearly unacceptable.

  1. Thanks Phil Murphy for putting illegals ahead of jobs for legals.
Gottheimer total loser that advertises on his signs lower taxes? Who is he kidding? The proof is here, big businesses leaving already with more to come. Shutdown Phil is going to put the state into bankruptcy.
