An investigation began in January 2022 when the Lyndhurst Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. Detectives determined that AMIT BHATT was in possession of child pornography.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, AMIT BHATT was charged with third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(b)(iii). BHATT was served with the charge while in custody at the Morris County Correctional Facility. He remains there pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Lyndhurst Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
