Fair Lawn NJ, the iconic Nabisco property in Fair Lawn along route 208 has been sold to a development and construction company in a $146.5 million deal.
The sale was confirmed by Mondelēz Global Senior Director Laurie Guzzinati, who said, “We have completed the real estate process.”
The Nabisco factory closed down production for good in July after more than six decades in the borough. About 600 workers lost their jobs when owner Mondelēz made the decision to close the plant.
CLPF Greek Fair Lawn LLC purchased the property in early October. It lists the buyer’s address as 33 Cotter’s Lane, East Brunswick, the address of a company called Greek Development. The company specializes in industrial design and previously developed distribution centers, manufacturing sites and food storage for companies including Wakefern Food and PharMEDium.
Terrible. Another piece of NJ history to be demolished by a developer.
Murphy never interceded to try and prevent this from happening. No wonder NJ has a reputation as a bad state to do business with and a bird brain governor like Murphy.
Will miss Nabisco.
Save it for what? Do you just like the Nabisco sign?
You would not want the government limiting the use of your property. Route 208 is Commercial development.
Why would you want the government to intervene in business transactions? Maybe the business should have done more to grow within the state
Valley hospital in ridgewood is next. Just wait for the large condo complex including required low income units.
Will be a shame. Could have been a state of the art hospital in the village. Very shortsighted
More condos and traffic , what a mess. The open space that made Bergen county so desirable, will be its downfall. What a shame, developers chasing a buck.
It is part of the destruction and urbanization of suburbs. It addresses “equality”, “equity” , satisfies liberal “feelings”, expands leftist voter base for eternal power, gives money to developers and indirectly to politicians of both sides. The last 3-4 years I have realized that Bergen County will simply turn into another Queens or Brooklyn. There’s no stopping. This area and the whole state of NJ is doomed. It is and will continue to be a giant construction site for years to come. The saddest part is that public backlash is so muted and confined within a few FB sites. Even those local politicians who still feel that this is all wrong see that it is not worth fighting so they take their reward and shut up.
Yep,,,,so so true.
When blaming Murphy, remember the Developer’s Remedy that was the beginning of the end thanks to C. Christie.
yes but NJ ranks last in every economic measure and Murphy has made it even worse
Stop all the political rhetoric. Mondelēz found it cheaper to make its products somewhere other than Bergen County. It’s is all about money. Period.
