Ridgewood NJ, Halloween is approaching and we want everyone to have fun, but we also want to remind everyone to celebrate safely and remain vigilant. Here are a few tips to help keep this Halloween safe for everyone:
-Drive slowly! Keep an eye out for both parents and
children. Many adults will be dressed in costumes as
well as kids, and many costumes lack reflective
material and are difficult to see at night.
-Equip your children with flashlights or glow sticks. This
helps make them more visible to motorists.
-Only trick-or-treat during the posted times dictated by
your town.
-Check the candy given to your kids!
-We always encourage you to trick-or-treat in familiar
neighborhoods and to stay in groups.
-We also urge parents to check the sex offender registry before planning your trick-or-treat routes. The online service is maintained by the New Jersey State Police, State Bureau of Identification and can be accessed at https://www.njsp.org/sex-offender-registry/index.shtml.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween from all of us here at the New Jersey State Police!

These times are so dangerous! It wasn’t this way when we were kids.
Why back then, there WEREN’T any pedophiles or child predators! Oh, wait…………………
I seem to remember being told how to scream, where to kick, and how to run……….
Sad.
It is very sad, and let the state police and Bergeny patrol what’s 17. Let’s keep our police officers safe patrolling the village streets.
