Newark NJ, after completing a recent tour of duty, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Candia stowed his uniform and prepared to head home from District 2. Remaining alert, Candia visually scanned the concourse as he moved through Newark Penn Station. Candia spotted and immediately recognized a man who was wanted for domestic violence by Newark Police.
The wanted man was walking through the concourse and was unaware of Candia’s presence. Candia called for backup and moved in for the arrest. Despite the man’s attempt to flee and resist, Candia and backup NJTPD officers made a successful apprehension. In addition, they recovered a loaded, stolen handgun and illegal drugs.
Even while preparing to head home to our families, New Jersey Transit Police Officers remain focused on protecting you and detecting all threats. Great job by Officer Candia and every officer who rushed to assist!
