New Milford Man Charged in Palisades Park Hit and Run

Palisades Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of NICHOLAS SODANO (DOB: 5/15/1963; single; unemployed) of 454 Central Park Drive, New Milford, NJ on a charge of Leaving The Scene Of A Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Palisades Park Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain Anthony Muccio.

At approximately 1:21 p.m. on January 7, 2021, the Palisades Park Police Department responded to a report of motor vehicle accident in the area of 460 Bergen Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 53-year-old female, lying on the side of the roadway with multiple serious injuries. She was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment where she remains in critical condition. Multiple witnesses reported that the victim was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, and they were able to describe the vehicle to responding officers, including the license plate.

As a result of the investigation, NICHOLAS SODANO was arrested on Monday, January 11, 2021 and charged with one count of Leaving The Scene Of A Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.1, a 3rd degree crime. SODANO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would also like to thank the Palisades Park Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
