Ridgewood NJ, reader says ,”This is a scam readers should be aware of”. The scam targets Verizon Wireless cellphone customers , lets call it the “Verizon support “ scam.

“I have a Verizon Wireless cellphone. I got a spoofed call from “Verizon support “ with the actual Verizon customer support number (obviously also spoofed).  Caller stated they wanted to confirm a name unknown to me was picking up the new iPhone 15 in Passaic county ordered by my account.  I said no it’s fraud. The convincing sounding caller said “I’ll send you a link to change your password and proceeded to give me a temporary password “.  I smelled a rat.  The text was also spoofed from actual Verizon 89900 site. I click the link to Verizon and hit DENY to change password.  I told him your a scammer see you in jail.  I called 611 and advise Verizon of the scam.  They said absolutely I did the right thing to deny and not log on with that password    And I changed my pin.  So the scammers are using technology to hack Verizon accounts that used 4 digit pins since they had my actual name.  Verizon would never make such a call.  Nor issue a temporary pin to log on.  It was one of the more convincing scammers I’ve dealt with and fortunately didn’t fall victim to it.”

  1. Thanks for posting. The same thing happened to me yesterday and I reported it to Verizon wireless.

  2. Do a 3 year stock chart on Verizon.

    They have lost their way…

    1. Nobody uses landlines anymore. Nobody pays long distance charges
Without Cellphone Verizon and ATT would be like blockbuster video.
Pricing pressure from others like cable companies offering cell service would likely take a bite out of their businesses as well

      1. 85% of their revenue is from mobile (cellular). T-Mobile eating their lunch.

Everything has been sent offshore. Can’t get out of their own way.
