New York NY,  yes you heard us right. In a true turn of irony New York City has sued Hyundai Motor (OTCPK:HYMTF) and Kia (OTCPK:KIMTF), alleging that the South Korean automakers were negligent and created a public nuisance by manufacturing vehicles “dangerously susceptible” to theft. Geez and we thought that was a product of bail reform and sanctuary state status?

While it seems no one can get arrested in New York except for ex-president Donald Trump. The city claims Hyundai (OTCPK:HYMTF) and Kia (OTCPK:KIMTF) allegedly failed to install immobilizers in their cars between 2011 and 2022, long after other carmakers adopted the technology. Immobilizers ensure car ignitions can’t be started without their keys.

“As a result, videos teaching the relative ease with which Hyundai (OTCPK:HYMTF) and Kia (OTCPK:KIMTF) vehicles can be stolen have gone viral,” the lawsuit claimed. “The companies’ business decisions to reduce costs and boost profits by foregoing common anti-theft technology have resulted in an epidemic of thefts.”

And ridiculously the city also claimed that the firms’ decision increased reckless driving, and significantly impacted the city’s police department and other resources.

  1. Typical nonsense from NYC, thats why people who can afford to leave do so
If i was a resident of upstate NY, id secede from that open sewer of a city

  2. Is it surprising that the city that is housing illegal alien criminals is taking the side of the criminal in car thefts?

  3. Doesn’t anybody find it funny and strange that youtube leaves up “how – to” videos on car theft techniques but they suppress anything that they find politically not supportive a Democratic Party position?

    1. Not really.

      Democrats run YouTube.
      Democrats are pro-Criminal
      Democrats are anti-Republican
