Albany NY , New York’s Democratic politicians have routinely advised their Republican residents: get out of Dodge if you don’t like it here. In 2014, Andrew Cuomo told reporters that “they [Republicans] have no place in the state of New York.”
Then Cuomo’s successor Kathy Hochul issued the same message: “You are not New Yorkers,” she sneered, noting that real New Yorkers backed abortion, environmental justice programs, and LGBTQ rights.
But now that the new Census shows that no state is bleeding people more than NY, and Governor Hochul has changed her tune. She began her inaugural last week by complaining that high housing and energy costs were “making life just too damn hard for New Yorkers.
“We must reverse the trend of people leaving our state in search of lower costs and opportunities elsewhere.”
Nice to see the governor recognize reality, New York City alone has lost 16 percent of its top taxpayers . The reality is New York must cut the country’s highest tax rates in half and fight crime on the streets. If not it will be welcome to the 1970’s in New York City sooner than you think.
The Rudy through Mike period was NYCs high point. Mike was just Rudy part two but with a gentler demeanor. The city is rapidly failing since then due to woke management and an economic approach that simply doesn’t work.
Run for the hills.
I hope I never set foot in NYC again.
We were regular weekend visitors combining a nice long walk with a great meal. That ended a few years ago. The shine has gone. Too many crazies, homeless, and that smell.
They bussed in all these crazies for all the anti Trump demonstrations. The only problem, they didn’t bus them back afterwards. Now they still here, defecating on the streets and pushing people in front of subway trains.
The City was run into the ground by Warren Wilhelm Jr aka Mayor Bill Deblazio.
