In the well-publicised deal, with Governor Christie, Democrat Senate President Steve Sweeney and Democrat Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto agreed to the huge gas tax increase.
Prices of regular unleaded gasoline in June were around $2.10 and now prices seem to have stabilized at $2.33. While other media sources are filled with wild stories of OPEC meddling and Russian hacking conspiracies, in the words of former President Bill Clinton its the “TAX” stupid.
But we should get our fancy roads paved with gold bricks any time now. And save $3000 annually in car repair costs.
Is that not what the proponents of the tax hike promised?

The roads are crap again after one snow ice freeze mild winter event. Both state county roads. Shoddy work and poor management
They had to pay for sound barriers and balance the state budget!
That old bag granny wienburg has earmarked at least 2 BILLION of that money for a light rail extension so her constituents in teanack and englewood can have a wasted pork barrel Union project
Classic union theft of NJ residents – we get hosed again. The union pigs have to keep overcharging for crappy work, 3X the next highest state per mile of state road. Massachusetts can do for under $700K per mile what costs us $2.1mn per mile of terrible NJ roads, all so union thugs can keep stealing from us. The work should be open bid to non-unionized construction firms and we’d get better roads for a third of the cost. No gasoline tax increases necessary.
