NJ State Police Are Looking For Answers in Fatal Teen Garden State Parkway Hit and Run

Irvington NJ, NJ State Police are Seeking Public’s Assistance with Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Investigation. The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle crash investigation that occurred on the Garden State Parkway on Monday, October 9.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives determined that at approximately 9:24 p.m., a 2004-2006 black Acura TL with an unknown license plate was traveling northbound on Eastern Parkway in Irvington in the area of the 143C entrance ramp. A juvenile pedestrian crossed the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene north on the Garden State Parkway.

As a result of the crash, a sixteen-year-old juvenile male pedestrian of Newark, NJ sustained fatal injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, the events leading to, or following the crash is asked to contact Troop “D” Bloomfield Station at Station at 732-441-4500 ext 3400. Anonymous tips are welcome.

  1. i drive thru that area on the GSP about 5-6 times a week
    There are more dangerous drivers in that area than any other highway
    The NJSP should use roving unmarked patrol cars to go after the many agressive drivers that are speeding and doing unsafe lane changes, tailgating, etc.
    It takes a bit more effort than hiding behind bushes at the bottom of a hill with a radar gun, but it would better serve the driving public to take these dangerous drivers off the road.
    Everyone should get a dashcam

    1. Not a good stretch of highway there but nothing is worse than 287.

    2. thumbs down must be some flatfoot who sits at the bottom of a hill when the speed changes from 55 to 25 hiding with radar
      cheap shot but revenue for NJ… typical small town speed trap
      go get the dangerous drivers… but that requires effort
